Knowing When You’re Ready

A quote from Abraham Lincoln goes like this; “I will study and prepare myself and someday my chance will come.” If you study and prepare yourself…your chance will come too. When? When you’re ready. How do you know when you’re ready? That’s easy. You’ll know when you’re ready because the universal Law of Attraction will begin to draw the people and circumstances you need into your life. You’ll meet people and receive phone calls unexpectedly and you’ll receive e-mails and letters, all so that you call use your special talents and abilities. Things will seem to just magically appear to you. The old saying; “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear” is very, very true. The problem with most people is they ignore these opportunities, continuing on with old, outdated behaviors, instead of sensing that they’re ready for a change and going for a breakthrough.

The Law of Attraction is a powerful law that says, we attract into our lives the people and circumstances that harmonize with our dominant thoughts. Have you ever been thinking about someone and later that same day that person walked through your front door or called you on the phone? Have you ever been singing a song in your head and then turn on the radio and that very song is playing? Some people group those occurrences under the label of coincidence, but there is something at work here that is very powerful. Your mind is a living magnet and you attract into your life what you think about. In fact…you become what you think about most of the time.

George Bernard Shaw wrote for over twenty years and sold his first piece after the age of forty. He went on to become one of the greatest playwrights of the English language of all time. Lech Walesa, the Polish labor leader, who won the Nobel Peace Prize, worked in the back rooms and factories in union organization for over twenty years before his chance came to climb the fence of a factory on strike in Gdansk, Poland, late at night, and lead the formation of solidarity. A feat that earned him respect throughout the world. It appears that when you’re ready…the world is ready for you. This philosophy is so important to me because I’ve used it to take me from the cold streets of Chicago, living out of gas station restrooms and abandoned cars to a career as a respected teacher, author, radio show host among other things.

James Allen wrote in “As A Man Thinketh”, “…a man sooner or later discovers that he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life. He also reveals, within himself, the laws of thought, and understands, with ever increasing accuracy, how the thought-forces and mind elements operate in the shaping of his character, circumstances and destiny.” He also added, “That circumstances grow out of thought every man knows who has for any length of time practiced self control…”. Richard Bach wrote, “We magnetize into our lives whatever we hold in our thoughts.”

A thought is not a “nothing”, but instead it is a “something”. In order for you to think it, it must exist. It’s a thing! It must be a thing! And it is a “thing” with a powerful energy of its own. Perhaps when we see it in this light, it is easier to acknowledge that the Law of Attraction is as real and as powerful as gravity and electricity.

By disciplining your thoughts you make yourself ready to become all you were born to be.
